French language programmes for students and adults - Courses for general, academic and career purposes

Who is this course for?

Those who want to improve their level of French for general purposes: university students, people who need to improve their language level for academic or future career purposes, but also those taking advantage of a gap year in Paris to learn or improve their French.

Your specific language goals

  • to gain confidence in speaking the language (presentations, interviews, etc...)
  • to develop accuracy in grammar and syntax
  • to understand and extract information from a written document (a report, an article, research material)
  • to produce a written document (essay, dissertation, correspondence, report)
  • to expand vocabulary (word-building, expressions, idioms)
  • to increase speed of reaction (absorb information, process and respond)
  • to improve fluency in the language for exam success at college, university or business school.

The content of the programme

An intensive training of grammar structures as well as oral and written comprehension and expression rapidly gives the student the ability to communicate with confidence.  The course concentrates on stimulating fast and accurate reactions so that the language  use becomes rapidly instinctive. Students are exposed to a structured programme:

  • purpose-designed grammar drilling exercises to develop the ability to write accurately in a range of styles.

  • interactive and dynamic oral practice sessions to encourage the expression of ideas and opinions, incorporating new vocabulary and idioms as well as manipulating sophisticated and more complex language structures

  • comprehension skills are developed using a wide variety of carefully selected written texts including newspaper and journal articles and literary texts

  • listening exercises using authentic materials to enable students to sharpen their comprehension skills, improve their pronunciation and increase their ability to think in the language.

We ask beginners to take individual lessons before joining a group at elementary level.
